the joy of pivoting with your chi: cherishing the infinite doors of life
Our Life Force will ebb and flow. We go through seasons. Ups and downs. Even with the most robust and on-point nutrition, fitness regiment, etc.
What doesn’t ebb and flow is the infinite open doors for self-expression.
I’ve endured a series of wellness challenges in the past few years, and it’s been hyper-stressful on my mind and nervous system to figure out where to shine.
As an athlete, I always had a stage and a comfort zone (yes, paradoxically, sometimes they are one in the same…thank god for awareness).
The Basketball Court was my place to shine. All of the tedious and tremendous hard work I’d put in in scheduled practices and overtime on my own could be revealed. Shown. Expressed.
The Great Outdoors was my place to shine. Every run I’d decided to go on despite feeling over-tired, heavy-legged, and just like mud emotionally could be revealed. Shown. Expressed.
The Blank Page was my place to shine. Every book I’d read, note I’d taken, and poetic, noetic contemplation I’d entertained and examined in my mind—along with the drive to educate, empower, and inspire and teach people how to be fit, could be revealed. Shown. Expressed. Conveyed.
The Weight Room was my place to shine. Every breath I set in synchrony with my movement, every workout I choreographed with mind, body, and soul, every training session I could help a client work through a “sticking point” in their mind or body, could be revealed. Shown. Expressed. Conveyed.
These were my Second Homes, too.
Each of these spaces represented open doors to sweat it out, scream it out, teach it out, play it out, and share my authentic self.
But it seems like Life keeps closing these doors to show me a way to a new door or new doors that will allow me to express that authentic self even more wholly. As if, all of these spaces were tremendously close to providing the space for my full authentic self-expression, but just a little too congested, forced, or socially-guided.
I am curious and open to these new open doors as I proceed on my path in this world, and I encourage you to stay tuned.
